Increase in Phishing, Vishing and Smishing
5/27/2010
Phishing, vishing and smishing attempts are on the rise.
Please be advised that phishing and smishing attacks are on the rise. Phishing is the use of an email message to collect private financial information. Smishing is similar to phishing but is instead initiated via text message.
To protect yourself at all times, remember that CommunityAmerica or any other legitimate financial institution will NEVER ask for account information via email. If you receive an email requesting any type of financial information, never follow the links included in the message.
CommunityAmerica has been successful in fighting phishing and smishing attempts, but we encourage members to remain vigilant in order to protect themselves. Please forward any email that requests specific account information and appears to be from CommunityAmerica to abuse@cacu.com immediately.
If you have any questions regarding security or fraud issues, contact CommunityAmerica's Fraud Prevention Department at (800)892-7957, ext. 6677. Someone from the Fraud Prevention Department will contact you by the end of business the following day to help you.
